BOYFRIEND JEANS: HOW TO TEAR AND RIP
It was not long ago I bought a pair of oversized boyfriend jeans because I was so pinterest-driven and had a hippie outfit in mind! It failed, epic-ly. I stared at myself in the mirror and looked like a fashion disaster! Fashion police where you at?! So they lay in my wardrobe for literally 2 years and I just had to do something with them! I was thinking of cutting them up to make a pair of shorts but I’d have to wait till this miserable winter is over! And it clicked! I’ll just tear them up and throw on a cosy sweater! Perfect!
What you’ll need;
Scissors – check out My Gold Stationery Picks to see where I got them from!
Boyfriend Jeans – skinny jeans work great too
From the bottom, fold them up to the length you’d like them to be.
With your sharpie, draw a line along the width of the jeans. I drew un-coordinated lines, as in some big and some small, because I wanted a messy look.
Continue doing this and it’ll look something like this.
Now we’re gonna start chopping them up! Pinch the jean on a line you’ve drawn and make a cut. Slip your scissors in and start to cut along the line to form a bridge like above.
PS: Be careful not to cut the back of the jean by slipping your hand in the jeans so you know what you’re doing.
Loosen the edges by scrapping the scissor on the jeans. This will make the cuts look less edgy and straight.
Begin to tweeze out the blue strings. They’ll be stubborn at first but once you start tweezing them up, they’ll loosen up and come out easily. After all the blue strings are out, only white threads will remain and that’s what you want!
Proceed with all the other lines you’ve drawn and this is what it’ll look like! Don’t worry if they look boxy and edgy, just give them a tough wash and they’ll be good to go!
And viola! Easy peasy Tear And Wear Boyfriend Jeans.
