I am a HUGE fanatic of necklaces! And when I say HUGE – notice the capitals – i’m not kidding. I have dozens of different types, colours, materials, and sizes. My blog’s banner is a picture of necklaces for crying out loud! This craze started when I was about 14. I would slowly start collecting long beaded ones, and then move on to long layered ones. As I grew up I started opting for necklaces more glam and mature like heavy statement one’s and chokers.
These are the 7 types of necklaces a woman should have hanging or tangled somewhere! Hmm speaking of tangled, have you seen my post on how to tangle-proof necklaces while travelling? No? Well check it out! ->http://www.sugarandshoes.com/tangle-proof-chain-storage/
OVER THE TOP + BEADS
This works brilliant if you’re wearing an outfit with no embellishment or pattern in which this necklace will stand out and tie the whole look together! Okay I literally grew up with these necklaces, literally! If you follow my blog you’d know i’m from Kenya, Africa, and if your new to my blog, well now you know! Markets in Kenya are colourful and vibrant filled with so much talent – hand crafted everything from chair stools to blankets and shawls to chimes! But the most admirable are the necklaces. Every single colour and every single style! Beaded ones look beautiful and make your whole outfit look fun! Plus, it works brilliant if you’re wearing an outfit with no embellishment or pattern in which this necklace will stand out and tie the whole look together!
HEAVY BUT ELEGANT
This is not to be confused with the previous one. Sometimes OTT is not always the right style depending on the occasion and that’s why, I find this kind of necklace to be the safest for any outfit or occasion! It’s heavy and embellished but still elegant.
I love how clever this is. It’s a brilliant fashion illusion. I prefer my layered necklaces to be simple like this one!
CHIC AND SIMPLE
These type of necklaces work perfectly if you’ve just got a casual outfit on. I like to opt for those that have a small pendant on them but bare necklaces work great too!
THE ‘I CAN’T BREATH’
Yes you heard me. I can never breathe normally when wearing chokers, hence the name. But their gorgeous and easily dress up an outfit! Check out ‘DIY FELT HIPPIE CHOKER’ to see how you can make one of your own!
The great thing about this type is that you can wear them multiple ways! For a collared blouse, wear it long and under the collar. For a tee or deep neck blouse, double it!
Oxidised necklaces have a very interesting look as they are in-between classy and casual! I love how they stand out, especially if you have a black outfit on!
Hope you loved this post!
Put it in the comments if I missed any!
